Cook - A - Thon: De'ja-vu

 

You can recall that barely few weeks ago Miss Hilda Effiong Bassey (born 20 September 1996), better known as Hilda Baci announced she would be attempting the record for the longest cooking marathon, which was previously held by Lata Tondon, an Indian woman. Whose cooking marathon lasted for 87 hours, 45 minutes in 2019.

On Monday May 15, 2023 ,at exactly 7:45 am, Hilda broke the record for longest cooking marathon by any individual hitting 87 hours 50 minutes above the previous record holder in 2019. After the event a Guinness World Records spokesperson released an official statement on its website saying: “We are aware of the record attempt and are looking forward to receiving the evidence for our Records Management Team to review, before we can confirm the record is official.”

To set a new record of the longest cooking marathon, Hilda was originally set to cook for 96hrs, but later extended her goal to a 100 hours cooking marathon.

Vawulence just set in as another Nigerian Chef  by Name Damilola Adeparusi, fondly called Chef Dammy has set out to beat Hilda Baci’s unofficial record, who is awaiting the confirmation of her 100hrs record-breaking cook-a-thon from Guinness World Records. And she has taken to her Twitter account to express her dissatisfaction as regards the unsupportive nature of Nigerians because she is decently dressed. The said controversial chef has already gone over 30hrs of her Cook-a-thon challenge.
